$100 Million Donated to the Weill Cornell Medical College

Longtime benefactors Joan and Sanford Weill, together with the Weill Family Foundation, donated $100 million to the Weill Cornell Medical College. The gift will go towards Cornell’s $300 million campaign, Driving Discoveries, Changing Lives. This campaign, along with the completion of the Belfer Research Building (due to open in January), will help fulfill Weill Cornell’s vision for creating â€Å"a hub for multidisciplinary biomedical research and recruit the world’s best and brightest scientists to advance research and treatment of some of the most formidable health challenges,   including diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular and Alzheimers diseases.† This $100 million gift will go specifically to the creation of two new centers: the Joan and Sanford I. Weill Metabolic Syndrome Center and the Joan and Sanford I. Weill Cancer Research Center. See the Cornell Medical College press release, â€Å"Weill Cornell Medical College Receives $100 Million Gift from Joan and Sanford I. Weill and the Weill Family Foundation to Launch New Capital Campaign† for more details. //
